CYGNSS Science Data

The CYGNSS Command and Data Subsystem (CDS) consists of the Centaur command and data handling (C&DH) single board computer, which operates the microsat flight software (FSW), and the RF components, including an S-Band transceiver (XCVR), duplexer, coupler, and antennas. FSW implements the attitude determination and control subsystem (ADCS) control algorithms; science and housekeeping data packetization and handling; and command reception and action. The Centaur interfaces directly to the Delay Doppler Mapping Instrument (DDMI) to control operation and receive, process, and store science telemetry data. Telemetry and commands are transmitted and received through the XCVR. The RF energy is split between antennas oriented parallel to the +Z (nadir) and Z (zenith) coordinates of the microsat. The CDS extends to the ground segment at the three ground stations in Chile, Australia, and Hawaii, USA.
